As with any popular communications channel, SPAM is also becoming a concern in SMS channels. This applies to both operators and end-users. Operators see traffic entering their network, often without any potential for revenue generation, congesting the network, blocking telephone sets and upsetting their end-users. From an end-user perspective, SPAM can be viewed as either a light nuisance, or as an extreme irritant if the mobile set is blocked by it.
The SMS Firewall service can be offered either to mobile customers on a subscription basis as a value-added service, or as a unique differentiator if it is enabled for all mobile end-users on the network.
